The HeartScapes Reiki Teaching Apprenticeship

The purpose of this apprenticeship is to prepare Shinpiden-level Reiki students to teach Reiki at all levels from the perspective of the Japanese origins of the system.  This training is structured as an apprenticeship rather than a class, in order to support a robust learning experience with hands-on.  It combines a series of trainings, hands-on teaching experience, and Reiki practice sessions.   The progression of the apprenticeship is designed to provide a deep and detailed training in how to teach Reiki I & II before moving on to learning to teach Reiki III.  This will allow you to learn at the pace of your own direct experience of teaching.

Our Beliefs, Commitments & Values Guiding our Reiki Teaching Apprenticeship:

·         We believe that Mikao Usui gave a gift to the world by distilling his decades of complex and intensive spiritual development into a simple, elegant, accessible and deep system of practice.  Therefore, we are committed to practicing and teaching in ways that are simple, elegant, accessible and deep, and as best we can to honor these principles in how we engage our students.

·         As long-time educators in a variety of fields, we believe that teaching Reiki requires a specialized set of skills and competencies that are distinct from practicing Reiki.  Therefore we are committed to providing Teaching Apprentices with a robust and comprehensive education in What, How and Why Reiki is taught.

·         We believe in apprenticeship as an effective, comprehensive and relational strategy for teaching a craft.  Therefore we are committed to investing the time and resources necessary to provide this traditional form of learning.

·         We believe that, as an embodied spiritual practice, Reiki should be taught in a way that is experiential, leading to students having an embodied experience of the material rather than a primarily intellectual one.  We have observed that this is the best way to ensure that students take on Reiki as a life-long sustaining practice, something one learns to BE rather than to do.  Therefore we are committed to providing Teaching Apprentices with a class structure and pedagogical framework that best supports those outcomes.

·         We believe in teaching Reiki as closely as we can from the perspective of the Japanese origins of the system, so that students develop an understanding of where this practice came from and why it contains the elements that it does.  In this way students build a strong foundation on which to develop, integrate and adapt their own practice to their lives.  We believe we are in strongest integrity when we honor the culture and further the traditions from which the system was born.  Therefore we are committed to continuing our own education about the roots of Reiki, and deepening our own practice as a life-long learners.

·         As practitioners and teachers, we value:  Personal development & sovereignty, cultural integrity, learning community, diligent practice, and love.  Additionally, we value that which is embodied in the Reiki Precepts:  Just for today, to release attachment to Anger & Fear, to cultivate Gratitude and Compassion, and to be True to our Way and our Being.
