Do you ever have an impulse about something, but you aren't sure whether it is your intuition talking to you (and therefore valuable to follow) or something.....else? Something like old fears, limiting beliefs, the residue of trauma, or the influence of others? How do we know that an impulse is trust-worthy, especially those that feel risky, but could lead to something right and good?
This is the question I am asked most when it comes to intuition, one that reflects an angst that many of us feel around how to make important decisions in our lives, or how to navigate those small but potent moments of opportunity that arise all the time. This angst is inviting us into deeper fluency with the language our own intuition--the voice of our True Self in its wholeness--and with the languages of those other voices. These are the questions that prompted me to create Intuition Lab, a free monthly gathering where we explore the phenomenon of our intuition, and learn practices for strengthening it.
Because here's the thing: We can't learn to interpret our intuition with confidence if we do not also choose to have some serious conversations with the difficult parts of ourselves that can sometimes speak a lot louder--the Afraid Little Child part, the Angry Victim part, the Narrow-Minded Bigoted part, or the One Who Was Harmed. These shadowy parts of ourselves are not our intuition, and cannot lead us to choices that truly serve our highest interest and greater wholeness and connection with Life. This is not because they are bad or wrong, but because they are deeply limited in their perspective. They serve one very important function for us: To keep us safe by preventing us, at all costs, from re-experiencing something traumatic, frightening or painful from our past. This single-minded focus on our safety is valiant, but it can throw off the calibration of our Inner Compass so that we cannot cleanly navigate the challenges and opportunities of our life.
Becoming savvy navigators of our life requires a strong Inner Compass, and our ability to read it. I have found that one of the amazing and essential outcomes of practicing the system of Reiki is a stronger connection to intuition, a deeper relationship with that Inner Compass, and greater fluency in its language. That's why I started Intuition Lab for our HeartScapes subscribers, to give us a space to specifically work on this outcome in experimental ways. If this sounds intriguing, learn more and register here.
Take This Work Deeper:
The practices we learn in I-LAB are drawn from the system of Reiki, and other embodiment-based systems. For a deeper dive into the foundational practices of Reiki from the perspective of its Japanese origins, join us for our monthly Reiki Foundations, a 3-hour Reiki learning retreat held live over Zoom every second Saturday of the month. This month, that happens to be the same week as I-LAB, on January 9th!
