You Were Born for These Times Retreat

[We are] making decisions as if this is the place and now is the time for the juncture between a devolving world and an emergent world. Inviting many to do the same increases the potential of a smoother and more fruitful transition.
— Norma Kaweloku Wong, When No Thing Works

Who is this for?

Those who feel that they are here to help humanity evolve on an individual and collective level, regardless of how they identify themselves:  Healers, teachers of all kinds, spiritual practitioners, story-tellers, witches, yogis, mystics, leaders within your spheres of influence... Join us if you’re seeking:

  • A map to guide you forward

  • Tools to help you along the way

  • A community of practice in which to do it

What are we up to?

We are in a time of great upheaval and disruption of many social, economic and political systems that we have relied on to create stability in our lives. While this disruption was highlighted by the pandemic, it has been coming for some time.

There is a world that is in its death throes—one rooted in colonization, white supremacy and patriarchy. It is powerful and dangerous, but it is dying.

And there is a new world that is emerging, something beautiful being born from the ashes of the old, even as that great beast rallies to save itself.

While there is reason for fear and grief at the pain and destruction that has and may come, we feel deeply that there is also much reason for grounded hope, joy and possibility for creating something beautiful from the compost of what is deteriorating.

My friend, YOU have something important to contribute to your life, your community and the world at just this moment. You were born for these times, and we are here to help you step into your brilliance and resilience and continue charting your course in these strange waters.

That is why we’ve called you to gather.

Community is going to save us as these weeks and months unfold. The combination of inner strength and open conversation will allow for new perspectives to develop.

During this two-day on-line retreat, we will gather in community to help process the fears and hopes of this time, and embrace and envision our path forward.

This journey is structured around mystical archetypes from Tarot, insights of Astrology, and guided by creative, embodiment-based practices to process what we’re feeling about these times, develop skills and build resiliency.

Our Map: The Journey From Tower To Sun:

We begin at The Tower, and an honest acknowledgement of destruction, collapse, and the despair these times can bring,

Followed by centering into The Moon, which invites deep self-reflection and connection with intuition,

We will then follow The Star, pivoting towards inspiration and finding purpose,

Finally, joining together to raise The Sun, which shines energy on building a harmonious, sustainable future in collaboration with others.

We’ll explore these themes through:

  • Guided practices for processing the grief & despair you may feel from the challenges of 2024;

  • Support and assistance to help you find your own personal source of inspiration and purpose, calibrating your North Star for 2025;

  • Concrete processes for tapping into your deep intuition, inner guidance and the voice of Spirit, whenever you need them;

  • A community within which to do your individual and collective work.

Beverly McGuire Evans, LCSW, has been a feminist therapist in Oklahoma City for 45 years. Through the years she has studied a wide range of therapeutic approaches, developing an integrated approach of family of origin work and mind-body connectivity. As her life evolved, so did her spiritual world. She was part of the Artichoke Coven and has an ever- deepening relationship with the Divine Feminine; she also explored Siddha Yoga, mystical Christianity, mindfulness meditation as taught by Thich Nhat Hanh, authentic movement, process painting, and for forty years has been guided by the Tarot. In the past few years, her primary focus has been on creating mandalas.  All of these experiences are coming together in using mandalas as a daily spiritual practice.

Michaela Daystar founded HeartScapes at the intersection of self-reflection, spiritual practice, and social action after a 15-year career in social justice leadership development in universities and organizations.  Wishing to support her clients and students to make their precious contribution to the world from the inside out, she teaches the systems of Reiki and SoulCollage as pathways to self-development, emotional resilience, and remembering our true self.  In working with other Reiki practitioners, she also teaches trauma-informed principles to increase safety, trust, choice and consent in our healing communities.  Michaela continues her studies of Reiki with the International House of Reiki, and holds a Master’s Degree in Social Justice Leadership.
