June’s Theme: Remedies for Anxiety & Stress From Reiki’s Origins
Here’s why….
“The problem is not the existence of stressors, which cannot be avoided; stress is simply the brain’s way of signaling something is important. The problem - or perhaps the opportunity - is how we respond to the stress.”
When the COVID 19 pandemic hit us, the immediate increase in our collective levels of stress and anxiety was palpable. The World Health Organization reported a 25% increase in the global prevalence of anxiety and depression, adding to the already 40 million adults in the US suffering from anxiety disorders.
And yet….
Even as I felt the stress and anxiety rising around me and within me, as our world was disrupted so completely, I was able for the most part to remain grounded, rooted and stable in the midst of this storm.
How?
One way to understand anxiety is fear trapped in the body, often manifesting in the mind as out-of-control thoughts, in the body as pain or restlessness, and in the heart as a constant sense of unexplained fear. When we have a system of practice that helps us move those feelings down low in the body, and then out into the Earth as our collaborator, our relationship to fear changes and anxiety has less of a chance to take hold of us.
We are able to remain rooted within the disruption.
The system of Reiki can help us get there…
In this 60-minute gathering, we’ll explore Reiki as a powerful structure for releasing attachment to fear, making more room inside for processing the stresses of life, and ultimately creating an internal ecosystem in which anxiety cannot take root.
SCHEDULE & Logistics:
Registration: These monthly classes are a free gift to the community, and you must register to attend. Once you’ve registered, the Zoom links and other updates will be emailed to you, and the recording shared afterward.
Days / Times: HeartScapes-’ Free Community Class is normally held the first Wednesday of every month from 10:00am - 11:00am or 11:30am Pacific Time.
Format: We meet live and virtually over Zoom. Sessions will be recorded and made available to those who are registered.
